FAQ: Frequently Asked Questions

How does Absence Network create consistent opportunities?
Absence Network leverages our directors’ database of direct contacts with casting agencies, production studios, talent agents, managers, and dance studios across the U.S. and its territories. Opportunities flow both ways—we reach out to them, and they reach out to us. In addition, we sponsor and invest in projects to ensure a steady stream of opportunities for our members. Most importantly, we teach our members how to generate their own opportunities and invest in themselves, building careers that are lasting, thriving, and stable.

Is it free to audition?
Yes. We believe charging for auditions without offering feedback, development, or industry credibility is exploitative. Absence Network does not practice that.

Can I audition for one division or multiple?
That’s entirely up to you. You may audition for one or as many divisions as you like. For example, you could pursue both Reggaetón and Acting, or Hip Hop, Reggaetón, and Acting. We encourage you to know your limitations but never hold yourself back from possibilities—effort makes anything achievable.

What is the dress code?
Dress according to the division(s) you’re auditioning for:

  • Hip Hop / Reggaetón: Comfortable, stylish streetwear that shows personality and allows full movement. Think fitted or layered looks, clean sneakers, and a confident, performance-ready vibe. Bring knee pads if you own them.

  • Ballet / Jazz: Form-fitting dancewear such as leotards, tights, or leggings with the appropriate footwear (ballet or jazz shoes). Keep hair neatly pulled back to highlight technique, lines, and professionalism. Pointe or jazz shoes may be required.

Do I need to bring a headshot, résumé, reel, or bio (EPK)?
Not for our auditions. However, these materials are useful to have for your professional journey. If you become a member, Absence Network will create a free Electronic Press Kit (EPK) for you.

Can I submit online instead of attending in person?
Yes—but only after 30 days of the in-person audition date, unless you are applying for Acting or Content Creating. Members must attend in-person auditions for reevaluations.

Are all levels welcome to audition?
Yes. However, auditions do not guarantee membership. Every applicant will receive a one-on-one evaluation with company directors.

What age groups can audition?
Auditions for children and adults are held separately to ensure a safe and professional environment. Flyers will specify age groups for each event. If an audition is open to all ages, that will be clearly noted.

Can I review what the membership packages include?
Yes! We offer three membership packages for each age group. Details on pricing and package benefits are available at www.absencenetwork.com (Home Page).

Can I audition for Content Creating or Acting?
No. Content Creating and Acting are open to members only and do not require an audition. Content Creating is a mandatory class for all members. Acting operates as its own division, but it also does not have an audition process—it requires a membership package. Full details are available on our website.
